Department of Soil Science In The News
Congratulations, Carrie
Congratulations to Carrie Laboski et al. whose paper “Strengths and Limitations of Nitrogen Rate Recommendations for Corn and Opportunities for Improvement”* has won the 2020 Agronomy Journal Outstanding Paper Award. This collaborative effort, with its many authors, took well over a year to develop the manuscript before it was submitted to the Agronomy Journal. According to Dan Sweeney (ASA Editor in Chief), this is a relatively new award from the American Society of Agronomy. Papers considered for this award are those from a two-round process. The first round is based on impact over a 2-year time frame as determined from non-self-citations and article views. In the second round, committee members score the papers on advancement of knowledge, effectiveness in communication, use of visuals and tables, and originality. As this year’s recipient, the paper will be recognized at the virtual annual meeting this year during the ASA awards ceremony.
